Just checking to see if Docudo is still active. Last message on the
list was a long time ago and the site is no longer working. Project
seems interesting and looks like where TG is headed at some point.

He hasn't vanished without a trace, he posted on the TG list a week or
two ago, but he has been largely incognito.

Jorge is referring to Ronald Jaramillo. I haven't seen Ronald post
any time recently...

I certainly don't consider Docudo to be dead, but I'll confess that I have mostly just been tinkering with it since Ronald stopped working actively on it.  It seemed like I was the only one interested, and I've had a lot of other time sinks going on the past few months...
(I've been pretty much off the various mailing lists for the last couple of months, including this one, which is why I'm just now replying to this)

I eventually decided that I would let it slide a bit until
a) TG documentation site (MoinMoin) was a little more fleshed out, so that the community could decide what exactly was wanted from a documentation app.
b) TG 1.0 was released. (obviously this has now occurred)

I also didn't want to distract from the development of the actual documentation, so I've been pretty quiet about it lately.

In addition to the main www.docudo.org being down, the svn repos also appears unavailable since the server migration to webfaction, so I can't upload my changes (there aren't many though...)

I'd really like to see this project go forward, as it shows off a lot of the neat features of TG, but I don't want to distract (too much) from mainstream TG development.  The main TG devs have had a lot of other (and more important) priorities.  Hopefully now that TG 1.0 is out, Docudo development can continue.

Here's what I see being necessary for that to happen:
1) At least svn.docudo.org needs to become available again.
2) It would be nice to have trac.docudo.org back, too.
3) A core group of developers (3-5) need to be found to actually work on this on a regular basis (I would certainly volunteer!)
4) Some discussion needs to happen regarding which features are still missing and need to be implemented.

The code that I have, which I guess is the most current, is in a fairly useable state.  That is, it runs, users can add/edit content, the TOC mostly works, there's a search function.  The very basic goals of the project have been met.  What is needed now is some work on code refactoring, bugfixes, implementation of those features which we didn't get around to, and implementation of new features.

I'd really like to hear from anyone who is interested in helping me continue this project!

You might want to send this email to Kevin and Lee McFadden directly.
I'm not sure how often people check up on docudo.

More often than you might think ;)

I'll take a look at retrieving the docudo svn repo and trac instance
and I'll see what can be done with regards to hosting. The old TG
server is not an option for obvious reasons, and I'm not sure about
WebFaction - Failing that I can host the docudo project on my server
without a problem.

Though you're certainly welcome to host this, I'm guessing that Remi
would be happy to host it at WebFaction as well. It would have to be
more than a basic svn+trac account, though, since it would need to be
able to run Docudo itself.

Either way, you have access to the files, Lee. I'd recommend moving
it fairly soon. I'm going to back everything up, but that server will
go away within the next month.

Any chance of seeing svn.docudo.org and/or trac.docudo.org back up anytime soon?

I can send you the files if you'd like to bring it up at WebFaction...

I think we got copies of it, at least the lastest svn co what's needed
is someone with access to the TG box at webfaction to actually set it
up. and have the dns repointed.

kevin -
the only files I have are my (modified) files in my svn working copy

if you have an svn "hotcopy" that you could send me, that would be a start...I could set up a temporary repository on one of my home office servers, and at least people could have access to it...though it might be slow and down intermittently

Better would be putting it up somewhere (WebFaction?) not subject to the vagaries of my ISP, power fluctuations, surfing habits ;), etc.

So I'm guessing noone has managed to get the docudo sites back up?

Would have been nice to have them up for PyCon...

Now that most people are back from PyCon, is there any update on this?

Yes, there is...WebFaction has graciously set up a hosting account for Docudo, and I now have the backups of the original site.  I had hoped to have the site back up and running by now, but some personal issues have come up, so it'll probably be another couple of days before docudo.org is back up and running.  Sorry for the additional delay...couldn't be helped.

But soon....Docudo will LIVE AGAIN!!! Bwahahahaha!

for those following along at home, the Docudo Subversion repository is back up at:
http://svn.docudo.org/

I've had some trouble getting the old Trac instance up and running again, but hopefully it will be back again as well.

Trac instance is up and running, including all data from the old trac site.  It's here:

Forgot to mention...I haven't yet gotten the old user authentication back together, but that should be coming soon.  I have the old .htpasswd and .authz files, so unless there's some problem I haven't foreseen, everyone who had access to the old site should have access to the new one before long.

Also, I haven't installed any Trac plugins yet (there were several on the old site), so some functionality may be missing.  If you're missing something and it doesn't show up in the next day or two, just post to this thread and I'll try to get it handled.

UPDATE:
svn - now using the old .authz file, so everyone who had write permissions on the old server should have them on the new server...please report any problems

trac - have installed the webadmin and accountmanager plugins, still using http auth, though, rather than the web form for logins.  Account registration _should_ work, but if someone could test it for me, that would be a big help.  Just go to the trac site ( http://trac.docudo.org) and click the "registration" link.  I'm currently the only user on Trac.

Soon I'll be setting up a Docudo instance at http://www.docudo.org for, you guessed it, the documentation.  Currently there's just a quickstarted TG project living there.

Anyone interested in contributing to the project, please feel free to sound off.
