Dear FMS, and MOHs

A lot has been said about the weak performance of the Family Planning services. The resultant contraceptive rate in Malaysia is only around 40% whilst countries like Egypt even Indonesia are hailing close to 70%. We have attributed several maternal deaths, to not taking the necessary contraceptive precautions especially those in high risks.

My personal visits either official or 'mystery' finds the monitoring of family planning services in our KKs very poor or perhaps never done. Evidenced by poor charting in the registers in the KK. The poor coverage has not been a concerned of the MOIC, FMS, MOH, FHP.

I would like to urge all FMSs and MOHs, kindly pay attention to this service, and kindly conduct training at least once a year for EACH of your clinic staff, KK, KKIA, KDs. We hope that 2013 will see better outcome and closest will be maternal death reduced to better family planning uptake of contraceptive amongst high risk.

Thank you
