I have Docky installed and functioning on Arch Linux with an NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GTZ video card and the nvidia-340xx 340.76-8 NVIDIA drivers for linux (340xx legacy branch).

I recently started seeing a horizontal line across the bottom of my main monitor screen (two-monitor setup with the main monitor being 1920x1080 and the secondary monitor being 1440x900). Here is a link to a screenshot of my main monitor:

You can see the line (it's gray and almost appears to be "shadowed") just above the dock. It's very visible against the white background, but you can also see it extend across the gray background of my wallpaper.

Docky was working fine a couple months ago (i.e., no line), and I stopped using my Linux box for a while because of classes where I needed Windows. When I came back and got my system up-to-date last week, I started getting this line. Swapping out nvidia drivers did not help.

The line goes away when I kill Docky.

Does anyone know where this line came from and how I can get it to go away?

Thanks.

I figured it out. So, if anyone finds this post and has a similar problem, it's a problem with the compositor, not the dock. I'm using XFCE, so the solution is:

From the Applications Menu: Settings... Window Manager Tweaks... Compositor... uncheck show shadows under dock windows.
