Really, two questions here:

1) basically want I want to achieve:

I want to be able run a Docker image as I normally run

#docker run ubuntu:14:04 /bin/echo 'run a job'

But I'd like to run my job in a VM instead of a container.

I am wondering if such an option exists.

2) Regarding this Solaris/Docker support, https://blog.docker.com/2015/08/docker-oracle-solaris-zones/
Where can I find in the code base?

Thanks,
Sean

Docker does not interface with kvm, and there is not facility to have Docker run some arbitrary container image "as a VM," but Docker _can_ run kvm itself in a container, as I do it all the time.

For running container through KVM, https://hyper.sh is exactly what you want.

It's ok now. Please visit https://hyper.sh again.

There's a great blog post by Sheng Liang from Rancher
talking about the new RancherVM. It's pretty good
because they talk in detail about how the whole thing
works and best of all VM(s) are treated like ordinary
Docker citizens.

cheers
James
