to Announce
The big news is *not* the kickstarter announcement, as I expected.

Kickstarter stated that it was not consistent with their guidelines, but that that could be appealed.

It's wrong, but I'm tired of waiting.

I'm making the first five copies available at http://dochawkbk.com/buy.html.  (The sponsorship level packages are also available).

The price is $750, and it includes as bonuses the chapter 13 package when available, and access to local forms if and when they exist for your district.

It's still a bit rough around the edges, and will be adding features rapidly, but it appears good for a 7 at this point.

For perhaps a few more days, the SOFA will be supplied as a spreadsheet, rather than as part of the program.  It will be Real Soon Now (possibly tomorrow).

Be sure not to anonymyze your email!  I need to contact you.

Before shipping, I need a link to your bar webpage showing that you are indeed an attorney.

I need the bar number as you want it to appear on filings, and the firm name and address as they should appear.

The "one year" license will actually last until August 31, 2013.

I will also need your state exemptions as you want them to appear in the program, and the name of your district, and the default county you file from.  Also, if you are in a city with special vehicle allowance, let me know.

Once I have these five settled, I'll let a few more trickle out, but they're not going out any faster than I can handle.

There will be a grand total of twenty at this price, which is roughly half off if you have either local forms or chapter 13 (and, you can renew those packages next year, even though you never bought them!).  After that, some more of this earlybird package will be available at $1,000, and others without the local forms or Ch 13 at $750.

Mac, linux, and windows are all supported (OK, linux is more "available" than supported, but that's an artifact of the tool set I've used).

The electronic filing comes without additional charge when available (no date set yet), as does the cloud update (but a buck or two a case data charges will probably apply).

I'm giving this mailing list a head start; I won't announce until tomorrow on NACBA, milo, and maclaw.

Did I mention that it's still rough around the edges?

Doc,

Below is how I list my firm.  My bar number is 102155 and the primary county of my filing(although probably only 50%) is Hinds.

Need anything else from me?

That's odd-your bar doesn't list the number, but I found you there.

and the primary

With Saturday's zipcode features, primary county irrelevant--the
zipcode of the debtor becomes the default

Do you just use

> Attorney at Law

or should the caption include "The Law Offices of John Windsor,"
"Windsor Law Firm," or some such?

> P.O. Box 4895

Is a PO Box a sufficient address for filing where you are, or should I
use a streat address.

Is tomorrow morning a good time to walk you through installation? ( I
guess that would be later morning, on your time).

You want some of the things I'm working on this second--I've got the
decimal points for currency working in most of the program.

Oh, and Mac, Windows, or Linux?

I generally just use the "John O. Windsor, Attorney at Law"

I'm a sole proprietor and trade under that name.  I do normally put John O. Windsor as Attorney, then John O. Windsor, Attorney at Law as the firm.

P.O. Box works in both of my districts(ND and SD of MS-mostly SD though).

Using Windows at the office.  Have an IPAD too, but work is done on Windows.

Anytime after 11 Central would work for me tomorrow, have a few appointments prior to that.

Just let me know.

I can make it work either way, but the original probably looks better;
I'll stick with that.

(For the program, it really only comes into play for the discount on
the second & later attorneys, at which point a non-generic firm name
is needed)

OK.

OK, doesn't run on iPad yet (and when it does, I think it will be cloud-only)

Central is 2 hours from pacific, right? A little after 1 right now?

Let's plan on 9:30 PST/11:30 Central

I knew I was forgetting something . . . your state exemptions (or are
you a fed state, or both?)

Something like

auto, 2000, M.R.S. 124.899(a)

(or however you want them to appear--you're the first license in your
state, so you get to choose).

Let me look them up and see what kind of format I can put together for you.  Running up against some deadlines today on 3 cases I am trying to wrap up so it may be later before I can get that to you.

Thanks,

This link has a better summary than what I could put together.  The term of art for the MS stuff is MCA and the section symbol.  See below:
