The big news is *not* the kickstarter announcement, as I expected.
Kickstarter stated that it was not consistent with their guidelines, but that that could be appealed.
It's wrong, but I'm tired of waiting.
I'm making the first five copies available at
http://dochawkbk.com/buy.html. (The sponsorship level packages are also available).
The price is $750, and it includes as bonuses the chapter 13 package when available, and access to local forms if and when they exist for your district.
It's still a bit rough around the edges, and will be adding features rapidly, but it appears good for a 7 at this point.
For perhaps a few more days, the SOFA will be supplied as a spreadsheet, rather than as part of the program. It will be Real Soon Now (possibly tomorrow).
Be sure not to anonymyze your email! I need to contact you.
Before shipping, I need a link to your bar webpage showing that you are indeed an attorney.
I need the bar number as you want it to appear on filings, and the firm name and address as they should appear.
The "one year" license will actually last until August 31, 2013.
I will also need your state exemptions as you want them to appear in the program, and the name of your district, and the default county you file from. Also, if you are in a city with special vehicle allowance, let me know.
Once I have these five settled, I'll let a few more trickle out, but they're not going out any faster than I can handle.
There will be a grand total of twenty at this price, which is roughly half off if you have either local forms or chapter 13 (and, you can renew those packages next year, even though you never bought them!). After that, some more of this earlybird package will be available at $1,000, and others without the local forms or Ch 13 at $750.
Mac, linux, and windows are all supported (OK, linux is more "available" than supported, but that's an artifact of the tool set I've used).
The electronic filing comes without additional charge when available (no date set yet), as does the cloud update (but a buck or two a case data charges will probably apply).
I'm giving this mailing list a head start; I won't announce until tomorrow on NACBA, milo, and maclaw.
Did I mention that it's still rough around the edges?
