Nobody is downloading these, so I don't know if you all are waiting for an official release, or whatever it might be - there is a slight possibility that, unlike me, Do Want does not occupy all your spare time and thoughts.

Nevertheless, here's another Beta. Categories and Ranks are editable. I'll be looking for bugs and adding some behind-the-scenes code to make using the list work a bit more smoothly, but this version is likely going to be the meat of our release-candidate. I will be switching my family's installation over to the new system this week.

As always, feedback is necessary and useful. I hope you'll download it and poke around. I've done as much testing as I can think to do and use on systems that aren't mine would be really helpful.

thanks

Even though you (jokingly) classified the possibility as "slight", it turns out you were correct, at least in my case -- Do Want doesn't occupy all my spare time and thoughts. :)  With Thanksgiving and now being back to work and having to play catch up, I haven't had time to test betas 2 or 3. I hope to find time to give Beta 4 a try!! I will definitely give feedback if and when I get a chance! I appreciate your work and very much look forward to getting it up and going.

Okay, I downloaded it and installed it and am setting it up now.

Let me ask: the "Request an Account" and "I forgot my password" buttons on the main login page -- where do those go to? If a user requests an account or forgets their password, how do I tell Do Want where those requests should go to?

This is easier to ask via e-mail than turning in a feature request. I'm struggling a bit with determining what's purchased/reserved, both by myself or by others. For instance, I know I've purchased an item for my wife. When I look at her wish list, I see the item has "none available", which is good. But I have four icons available for that item: Copy Item, Return Item, Buy Item, and Release Item.

Shouldn't I only be seeing TWO icons: Copy Item and Return Item? I shouldn't see Buy Item (I already bought it, and there's none left available) and I shouldn't see Release Item, either (I've actually bought it, not just reserved it).

So I think that's a bug. But even so, in addition, I'd like some kind of indicator like the PHPGiftReg had that shows "Bought by you" or "Reserved by Jane Doe" or "Bought by John Smith".

Do you want me to turn in a bug request and a feature request for each?

A question: When I go to "My Shopping List", I see one thing on it. It's an item I've already purchased. This is how the line reads (edited for privacy):

Alec Acrylic Stool/ End TableJohn Smith 2 $106.99

What's the "2"? The person only has one on their list, and I bought 1, not 2...

So my question is two-fold, I guess: why is it on my shopping list, when I've already purchased it, and two, why does it show "2" instead of "1"? (For reference, my "shopping list" in PHPGiftReg is -- correctly -- empty.)

Thanks!

Alright, I went "live" with it for a bit and got some pretty rapid feedback from my wife. I'm switching back to PHPGiftReg until some stuff gets straightened out that concerns her. :)  I'll turn in some bug requests and feature requests to see if you can accommodate!

Wow! That's a lot of feedback! Thank you so much for spending some time in it. I really makes a difference and I really appreciate it.

I've looked over the issues you've submitted and I'll have to tackle them when I get home this evening. One thing I can explain immediately, I put the detailed reservation information in the item details, so if you click on the item itself you'll see who's reserved it.

I'll look at everything else today or tonight and see if I can get it all behaving as expected...

Thanks again!

Hey Kevin,

Can you replicate the reservation problems you were experiencing on the Do Want demo? (do-want.aaroneiche.com) I've been trying to see what you're seeing with the reservation and the shopping list, but it's work as expected for me. I assume you are working with Beta 4?

Thanks

Actually, I can't seem to replicate it with my own data, either. It's just that one item (at least for me -- not sure about other users). Must be something "off" about it in the database or something. I'll let you know if it happens again!

Anything you can tell me about that specific item? What the quantity requested is, or if anyone else has attempted to reserve it? I'm hesitant to ask you to dig too deep because I don't want you to stumble on other's reservations for you... but any additional information would be helpful. It's probably an edge case I didn't think about...

Can't think of anything "interesting" or unique about the item. It's on my wife's wish list. I reserved it and left it reserved for awhile (weeks), and then bought it and changed it over to "bought" on the wishlist. That was all done in PHPGiftReg, not Do Want. In Do Want, I haven't done anything to the item other than notice that it's the only thing with four icons showing up. :)  Other items that underwent the same process appear as they should. Even on my wife's wishlist (the one with the "weird' item), there are two other items that I reserved and later bought (again, through PHPGiftReg) that look normal in Do Want.

Quantity requested is 1, and as far as I know/can tell, no one else has tried to reserve it.

Ah! I just went into the item's details and it says that I've "reserved 2 of this item".

I hit "Release" and now there are just two icons: "Copy" and "Return". So that's correct, BUT the item's details now show that I have "reserved 1 of this item" instead of saying I've purchased it. So it's better, visually -- only two icons instead of 4, and the 2 are the correct ones -- but the details still think I have one reserved instead of one purchased. Odd.

There's a forward slash ("/") in the item description, if that matters. (There are slashes in other item descriptions as well, but not for items I've reserved or bought, so not sure if that affects anything). That's about it!
