It's time again for another Beta!

Number 5 fixes some bugs and adds a couple of new features. The biggest ones are:

- Filtering on Other User's wishlists - you can filter results by Description, Source (store), or Category. This makes it easier to filter down for a particular place to buy, even if the item has more than one source supplied for it.

- Install from scratch. - I don't know if anyone watching this list particularly needs this, but sooner or later we'll run into a genuine new user. I've tried my best to make this a smooth and easy setup process. It will inevitably have some problems due to lack of error handling when things fail. Things still fail gracefully, but may not give you the helpful information you need. If you decide you want to play with this, it should be pretty easy. Make a new DB, add permissions for access to that DB, make the directory writeable, and go to dowant/install.php. It'll walk you through the rest.

It is Beta software, and so you have been warned. If it encourages you, I'm moving my family's installation immediately after I send this. Questions can be sent directly to me, entered into the issue tracker (http://code.google.com/p/do-want/issues/list).

Your continued support and interest has been greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

SSH access to my server isn't working. I have a trouble ticket opened with my web host. Argh! I was so looking forward to trying beta 5 ASAP! Hopefully I can try it later today. It sounds like it'll be usable for my users, but we'll see what feedback I get once I switch again. :)  Thanks for all your hard work and responsiveness!!!

Okay, got SSH fixed and was able to install beta 5. But I'm having some pretty serious problems with it, namely with the "Other People's Lists". I'm not getting the icons showing up properly for the items on other people's lists. I've attached two screenshots (two different people's lists) so you can see what I mean. One is missing all of the icons, although one item has a single icon, and the other person's lists has some partial icons.

I didn't make any modifications or anything. This was my process: Made a copy of the PHPGiftReg database and did the migrate .sql script on it. Unzipped the beta 5 files, renamed the configuration file to config.php, changed the database name, user name, and password, made an "uploads" folder and copied the item images from PHPGiftReg into that folder, and that's it. Same process I did with previous betas that worked fine in this regard.

Thoughts or suggestions or things you'd like me to try?

Also having another issue: If I go to "Other People's Lists" and just let it sit there without clicking anything, it starts cycling between the first user's wishlist and the list of users.

So it goes like this:

Click "Other People's Lists"
Sit and watch as it loads up the first person's wishlist all by itself, then switches back to the list of users, then back to the first person's wishlist, then back to the list of users, etc. forever.

So my experience thus far: Beta 5 is some steps forward, and some steps backward. :)  Looking forward to beta 6!! Thanks again for all your hard work.

I decided to test the installer since it seems others are testing the
conversion side. I've entered bugs for what I'm seeing:

- (#51) beta5 zip file contains __MACOSX dir that I had to manually
remove.
- (#53) installer text input boxes clip decenders below baseline (low
hanging text): @, p, y, etc
- (#52) login results in a waiting/hourglass box overlaid on page that
did not go away.

And one feature request:

- (#54) maybe grey out the next button to make it a little more obvious
that you have to click the green button first.

Other than that everything was smooth and worked as promised.
Hopefully this afternoon or evening I will actually test the wishlist.
Also want to throw some stuff at the installer to see how it handles
everything.

Looking real good!
