The Ben-David lab, Tel Aviv University
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Ben-David lab has an opening for a computational research associate / postdoc for an ERC-funded project. The lab is located at the Department of Human Molecular Genetics & Biochemistry, Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv University.
Our lab studies cancer genetics. We focus on an under-studied trait of cancer, called aneuploidy – the presence of an abnormal number of chromosomes in cancer cells — and the potential of using this trait to target cancer cells and eliminate tumors. We combine experimental and computational approaches to uncover the basic biology underlying this hallmark of cancer, to track its origins and to uncover its cellular consequences. In addition, we are interested in improving and expanding the arsenal of cancer model systems, for basic research and cancer precision medicine. To read more about the lab, visit www.bendavidlab.com.
Job requirements:
 Passion for science
 M.Sc. or Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology, biology with programming
experience (or equivalent background)
 At least 3 years of programming experience, preferably in Python and/or R
 High organizational and project management skills
 Excellent ability to work both independently and in a team
 Ability and patience to guide students
 Experience with NGS data – an advantage
 Background in biostatistics – an advantage
