You're missing a very useful advanced feature that is exactly what this situation calls for. It's referred to as either Channel Masking, Enabling/disabling channels, or as Preset Layering, in various posts and conversations.  The archives of this discussion group should have a lot of material on it.

A broad hint if you want to feel you figured most of it out for yourself is to look in the Macros list under Channel Masks.

I am working with DMXis in Logic as a way to program a large rig for a tour with active cue's for video and audience interactivity.

I find the control convoluted and overcomplicated in this software, but I can grind through the time it takes to create dynamic scenes. The biggest thing I find frustrating about this software is it's apparent lack of the ability to make 'Multi-buttons' i.e. multiple presets combined.

My question is: Can I somehow combine multiple presets to simplify programming and make the process faster? The only option I have right now is to go through the fixture map and activate a ton of fixtures at the same time which takes a ton of time. Ideally I could take 'Par Preset A' and combine it with 'Moving Head Preset B' as well as 'LED Fixture preset C' to create one single Preset utilizing all the fixtures at the same time. This would allow me to work on individual grp's and then combine them at will to develop complicated large scenes using the whole stage at once. Yes, I know i can map them by MIDI Tracks and essentially hit them all at once manually. But then, that takes away from the true power of the power which is automation using Logic Events. It's all just way too time consuming and I don't know why the developers of the software didn't simplify the programming.

I've scoured the internet looking for answers to this issue, but noone has even discussed it. Is anyone else frustrated with the program's lack of ease of use features? Programming a show should not take this long. What I can design on another control software in 30 seconds, takes 10 minutes on MDXis. That time all adds up and I'm frustrated. Someone may ask, "well why don't you use another control medium then and quit your bitching?" Answer: My clients purchased it and are hell bent on using it to synch the programming to the show in Logic. Who am I to argue when they are paying me? It's just, there has to be a better way. HELP!

Thanks guys!

Wow J's nicer than I am. If you'd gotten on my board to tell me how convoluted my software is I'd have told you to find some other software and go &;/- yourself.
