Subject: Evacuation Centres information web site
Dear colleagues,
As you are aware, under the AusAID supported disaster management project currently being implemented by DMC and managed by UNDP and UNOCHA we are developing a web site to include all evacuation safe places in Sri Lanka. Purpose of the web site would be to provide site information to disaster management stakeholders and facilitate them to improve the facilities available in evacuation centres.
As an example no individual agency will be able to improve all the facilities available in all evacuation centres but if proper information available private sector agencies and individual well wishers also will be able to support the facilities improvement in whatever the possible ways.
We expect there will be information about more than 2,500 sites in the website at the end of this year and have no illusions over the mammoth size of the task in hand. Therefore we want to collect and provide only the essential information about evacuation sites.
Attached is a first draft of the information collection sheet / web page. I appreciate if you could comment on the data fields and the flow. Comments we received by Dr. Ananda will be incorporated to the sheet but since they are not major, we thought of sharing the first cut with you to save time.
Appreciate your comments by next Monday 30th April 2012.
Thank you,
Ramitha
