Ever since updating my 11” 4th generation iPad Pro to iPadOS 26.2, AUM (playing SWAM instruments) seems to lag when playing a note.

I’ve read some posts about iPads being slower after the update, so I don’t know if this is the iPad that needs adjustment or AUM or SWAM.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Have you updated the Bluetooth firmware on your DM48x?

Is the  DM48x the only device connected to the iPad and vice versa?

I hadn't planned on updating the Bluetooth firmware because I don't use Bluetooth. Maybe that's the solution. The DM48X is the only device connected to the iPad and the iPad is the only device connected to the DM48X.

I am surprised you have a persistent connection at all, as connections have typically dropped after about 20 seconds when using iPadOS 26.x.

I would update the bluetooth firmware (see separate post with instructions), and also ensure that buffer size is minimized in SWAM (if running standalone) or in AUM (when running SWAM in AUM).

The buffer makes a big difference, and the default SWAM buffer is way too large. In particular, the combination of BLE MIDI and large buffer results in a noticeable latency.

BLE MIDI is a tad less responsive than USB MIDI, but as long as the buffer is minimized it’s very playable - although the lowest possible latency is achieved with USB MIDI + small buffer.

I have now noticed a pattern regarding my latency issue. When I begin playing the DM48X there is no lag, but over the next 4–5 minutes lag creeps in, gets progressively worse, and then static creeps in around 5 minutes and gets louder and louder. Within 10-20 seconds of the static increasing and completely distorting the sound, the static and latency suddenly go away and the response/sound again is perfect—no latency, no static. Alternatively, I stop playing for a couple of seconds and the latency/static goes away. As I continue to play, this pattern repeats.
I'm playing through an iPad 4th generation, iPad OS 26.3. Initially, I thought it was an AUM problem (I use AUM and SWAM instruments). I tried changing the AUM Buffer Size from 64 to 256 and that seemed to resolve the issue but as I continued to play, the latency/static pattern came back and happens whether the Buffer is set to 64, 128, or 256. To test whether it was an AUM issue, I tried Thumbjam and had the same problem, same pattern.
I have not updated the DM48X Firmware since I got the instrument two years ago. I think I'm two updates behind. I tried to check the Firmware version but holding down the slider while powering on doesn't seem to bring up the information.

The bottom line is that you need to update the DM48X to the latest firmware version and perform a hardware reset as well.

Just wondering why are you unable to see the version number.  Did you press the slider for too long? Is the slider working OK while playing?

I have not heard about this problem before. This is when using it wired? I suspect this is not related to the DM48 - what happens if you just use the screen interface to play ThumbJam for a while?
