Hello,

I'm trying to set up  Geoshred to be able to use it with DM48.

As a newbie to DM48 and somebody who doesn't know much about midi, I tried different combinations of globlal presets on DM 48 and MIDI settings in Geoshred (Pro) to produce a single sound,(on a geoswam cello) but nothing works in the long run :( However I managed to produce a sound once, but I don't remember the settings. :(

Other iPad apps work just fine with my DM......

Could someone give me a hand?

What do you do, step by step, to get ready to play with Geoshred?

Thanks a lot

Wojtek

The source of your frustration is that GeoSWAM instruments were purposely designed to work with MPE keyboard control.  I have been successful in getting, in my opinion, better expression using wind controllers.  Specifically the AE10, EWI Solo and the DM48.  The controllers can send CP or AT over Channel 2 and I changed other perimeters to get the expression I want.  I only used the violin and flute with the DM48 and now that SWAM Strings are out I haven't really used GeoSWAM much.  The SWAM ios products have a DM48 preset and it is much easier to work with if you are layering in AUM.  I use the left hand arrow key to control vibrato but the sounds to respond to throat Tremelo and other throat actions.  I find that that I prefer the SWAM Viola for the DM48.  Also if in poly mode you can produce double stops unlike the GeoSWAM violin.

There is a “geoswam” preset on the dm48 - that should be all you need, together with default settings in geoshred. (You may need to change input midi device.)

Thanks for the answers!
I guess I've found out what causes the problem. When I open Geoshred and set my DM48 and the app as recommended - it works fine, until i switch to another app (thumbjam) If I don't close geoshred and then return to it - the DM48 stops producing sounds.

So, the best solution is to have only one of those apps open at a time :)

Greetings

It sounds to me like you are not saving changes to the instrument after you make them.  I always host GeoShred in AUM for more midi control possibilities.  If you are using it as stand alone, if found that I am better off closing it down before using another app. You may need to use other settings on the DM48 when switching to Thumbjam as the GeoShred preset on the DM48 sends AT on Ch 2 and Thumbjam may not be set up for that.  When SWAM ios has wind instruments I will not be using GeoSWAM at all.  I was not designed to use it like we use it with wind controllers.
