Hello,

Yes you can use "dm-cache" as a cache for your Linux operating systems as the same way as windows does.

But the configuration is a little tricky and depends on your Linux distribution.

The global steps are:
- compile dm-cache as module using the preferred kernel version.

Here is the trick
- create a new "initrd" or "initramfs" that load the module at boot time, before the file system is mounted.
- create the mapping between source and cache device before mounting root device.
- change the MBR to the cache device
- modify the "grub menu" and "/etc/fstab" with the new layout

In a brief
- Create a new "initrd" or "initramfs" that load dm-cache module and create mapping. Then modify all config file according to the new layout.

I hope this is useful, if you have more question please let me know.

Hey, I have bought a laptop with a mSSD that would have been used in windows for caching my harddrive. I want to know if it is possible for me to be able to use the mSSD as a cache (the same way it is would have been used in windows) using dmcache? Could anyone tell me how? A step by step guide would be best :)
