Information received through Crime Solvers aided police in charging three teenage boys for a Christmas Eve beating. Investigators followed up on numerous tips they received from the community. Two of those tips provided valuable information that led detectives to the teens.
As of Friday, February 15, petitions are being served on the boys. A 15-year-old McLean-area boy, a 16-year-old McLean-area boy and a 16-year-old Falls Church-area boy are each charged with one count of malicious wounding. Further charges are possible.
Crime Solvers Seeks Suspects in Malicious Wounding Case
Fairfax County Crime Solvers is asking for the public's assistance in identifying the teenage boys responsible for seriously injuring a 14-year-old McLean-area boy on Christmas Eve. The victim and two friends were walking in the 2000 block of Westmoreland Street in the Falls Church area at 4 p.m. on Monday, December 24. Two teenage boys jumped out of a parked car in the church parking lot and ran up behind the victim. Unprovoked, the two suspects kicked and punched the victim, knocking him to the ground. They continued to strike him as two other male suspects watched from the car; one suspect videotaped the incident. All four suspects fled in the car.
The victim and his friends sought help from a passerby, who drove them to a residence. The victim was then transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital and treated for his injuries.
The two suspects who assaulted the victim were described as white males in their late teens. The first suspect was about 6 feet tall and 180 pounds. He had shoulder-length, curly, red hair and was wearing a white T-shirt. The second suspect was about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 170 pounds. He had dark brown hair and was wearing a dark-colored T-shirt and sweat pants. The suspect vehicle was a beige or gold-colored Subaru Forrester.
Anyone with information on these four suspects or the malicious wounding incident is asked to call Fairfax County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS/8477. A $1,000 cash reward will be paid for information that leads to an arrest and indictment. As always, callers never have to give their names or appear in court.
Note to Media: The Father of the victim will be available for interviews this afternoon at the McLean District Station. Contact PFC Shelley Broderick in the Police Public Information Office to schedule.
