It is written in the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty that he was born on April 10 of the lunar calendar (May 15 when converted by the Gregorian calendar) in 1397 as the sixth son of Lee Bang-won, who was then Jeongan-gun, and Min, who was Princess Jeongnyeong. Consolation has five older brothers, and the first three died young, so he grew up as the de facto third son after Yangnyeongdaegun and Hyoryeongdaegun.

In 1408, at the age of 12, he was enfeoffed in Chungnyeong-gun, and in 1412, 12 years after his father ascended the throne, he was promoted to Daegun. It is said that from an early age he showed cotyledons that were already ready to grow, and once he picked up a book, he read it until the book was worn out. It is no exaggeration to say that he is the best reading fanatic since Dangun. Even when he was ill, he tried to read the book, so Taejong, worried that it would harm his health, confiscated all the books in the room, but he held on to one book called 《Gusosugan (歐蘇手簡)》 that he had put behind a folding screen and kept it dry and worn out. The story that I read is a story that spreads well. Originally, the prince was only a relative of a servant, but he could not rise to the government post because he took the exam in the past, so Taejong, who did not have excellent talent, fully supported his son's hobby. Thanks to this, he mastered various fields from academics to art, music, and senior, and since he was rather a great army, he studied various fields without restrictions, so he was able to develop various talents. In other words, his affluent life as a great army has become a blessing in developing his skills as a versatile king.

His father, Yi Bang-won, took the throne through a bloody battle of slaughter and tried to establish the royal line right, but in the end, the son farming did not go as he wanted, so he had to abandon the principle of eldest son succession. It is a fact according to <Annals of the Joseon Dynasty> that Taejong tried to put Yangnyeongdaegun on the throne, but gave up due to Yangnyeongdaegun's continued reckless behavior. You can feel the irony of history in that the best sage in Korean history came out as a result of abandoning the principle of succession to the eldest son. That is also true, if the former king seems to be a stumbling block regardless of maternal relatives[8], relatives[9], and meritorious subjects[10], then since he has ruined all the buds in the first place, can he show his charisma? Since the person himself had a bad temper and there was no one who broke up, he was able to lay the foundation for a good policy. It was also a divine move that Taejong stepped down from the throne as Sangwang and acted as Sejong's protector and guardian.
