Hi, all -
At the meeting today, we realized that folks in the MWG group might need some clarification or motivation about participating (even if you cannot attend meetings). As always, this is based on your interest and capacity, but I wanted to highlight some upcoming
opportunities in case they've fallen off your radar.
[1] DLF Virtual Forum Proposal -- this one is time-sensitive, since proposals are due before our next MWG meeting. We discussed submitting a proposal for a presentation about the various projects/deliverables that the MWG has put out. This could also
be an opportunity to remind everyone that these projects are ongoing and open for submissions/feedback. If you have any interest in participating (or just ideas), please look at
this document.
[2] Asynchronous Participation Projects -- since a number of respondents to our previous survey asked for opportunities to participate outside of subgroup work, we created a number of shared documents to support this. The idea is that you can add information
to any of these documents at any time and each one has an explanation of the project/scope and how to participate (if anything is unclear, please let me know!). For blog posts, there is a general topic scope with the expectation that each person will add
roughly a paragraph or two about their experience or how they address that topic at their local institution (similar to
this previous blog post; also,
all previous posts); there is also an option to name yourself "editor," which is primarily adding an introductory paragraph.
Each of the asynchronous project documents has a deadline (listed in the document title), which is when we will review during the MWG meeting. The goal is that anyone who wants to contribute has done so by that point. At the review, if the blog post is completed,
I will pass it off to be posted; otherwise, we will extend the deadline (if there is still interest) or scrap it (if there is not). For other projects, we'll review what has been contributed and decide next steps.
Current upcoming deadlines include blog posts about expectations vs. reality, ETD management, and quantitative assessment (see full list at end of e-mail).
[3] June meeting & call for OpenRefine users -- we are planning to have a meeting in the summer where MWG members share how they use OpenRefine for metadata assessment (roughly 8-10 minutes per person) and there is a sign-up in the work plan summary.
However, the June 19 meeting is schedule for Juneteenth, which is a holiday for most of us, so I have also made a quick survey about the June meeting. Please only answer once and we'll look at the results during the May meeting to see when we will meet next:

Other reminders: As always, MWG members have access to shared documents, including meeting notes for the MWG and subgroups if you miss a meeting. We also include all of the links and "action items" at the end of MWG minutes so that everything is in
one place. I forgot to include the list of current asynchronous projects when I sent out this month's agenda (sorry :/), but they're always listed in the minutes and I will try to make sure I add it to future agenda e-mails.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks so much for all you do!
Hannah
