Message: Dear Sir/Madam,

My name is Alfie and I'm from Edinburgh. I'm moving to Dublin in the next couple of weeks to work as a Brand Manager for L'Oreal before returning to the London office in early October. As such I will unfortunately only be living in Dublin for approximately 3 months.

I'm a very keen sailor with a fair amount of experience in dinghy sailing. As a schoolboy I was on the Scottish Youth Laser squad, racing regularly at Royal Forth Yacht Club. I also spent several seasons racing in 420s and RS 500s (a performance skiff class). I studied at Oxford University from 2012 - 2015 (graduating last June) where I stopped fleet racing and joined the team racing squad, making the final of the British Universities' Championship in 2014. After graduating I spent 6 months working as a dinghy instructor at yacht clubs in Singapore and Thailand, competing in regattas across SE Asia, and racing regularly on a 40ft performance Trimaran as part of a team of 5. I used to be a qualified RYA dinghy sailing instructor, running regular coaching sessions at my club in Edinburgh, but I think my certificates have now lapsed. Since returning to Edinburgh I've been trying to get more experience on mono-hull keelboats by crewing for club races at Royal Forth Yacht club.

I've never been to Ireland before, nor do I know anyone living in Dublin, but every-time I've visited a new place/country I've found the sailing community to be a second home. Even though I'm only in Dublin for a short time I'm really keen not miss out on peak sailing season! I'm not sure what opportunities you might have for me to help out at the club - I'd be delighted to do some sailing, crewing on yachts or in dinghies. I can also help out with committee boat duties, drive powerboats etc, and I'd be very help to help out with any dinghy sailing coaching you might want. If there's any way I can get involved please get back to me!

Best wishes,
Alfie
