Lead Proxy Security Engineer (Broadcom Bluecoat)

Location: Raleigh-Durham, NC - onsite

We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Lead Proxy Security Engineer with deep expertise in Broadcom Bluecoat (Symantec) product platforms. In this critical role, you will lead the assessment, design, and technical implementation of proxy security solutions, ensuring robust protection for large networks. You'll work independently and collaboratively to develop and maintain complex security policies, troubleshoot production issues, and serve as a key liaison between our clients and Symantec Support.

Key Responsibilities:

· Lead assessment, design, and technical implementation activities for Bluecoat product platforms.

· Document comprehensive solution requirements based on business and technical objectives.

· Design and implement effective pilot and production architectures aligned with success criteria.

· Define, create, and maintain robust proxy policies to enforce security guidelines.

· Execute SSL Interception within integrated internal PKI environments.

· Demonstrate a strong understanding of various proxy authentication methods in relation to domain environments.

· Oversee and execute production deployment criteria to ensure successful job completion.

· Lead root cause analysis and troubleshooting efforts for production deployment issues.

· Function as a primary liaison between clients and Symantec Support, ensuring timely resolution of issues.

· Competently report issues, anomalies, and problems through proper channels (e.g., account management, technical support).

· Provide timely incident status reports as required to stakeholders.

· Continuously strive to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for security operations.

· Perform other duties relevant to deployment and security operations as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience:

· 7+ years of dedicated Bluecoat/Proxy experience supporting large enterprise networks.

· Proven expertise in HTTP proxy configuration, integration, and administration, with a strong preference for Broadcom Bluecoat products.

· Strong understanding of core networking protocols including TCP/IP, UDP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/s, and HTTP proxy.

· In-depth understanding of network, protocol, and application traffic flows.

· Proficiency in the architecture, design, and deployment of the following Symantec Bluecoat Product solutions:

o Advanced Secure Gateway (ASG/SG) Proxies

o Management Center

o Reporter

o Web Security Services

· Experience with other various IT technologies: SNMP, Syslog, PKI, HSM, VPN.

Desired Skills:

· Experience with APIs, scripting, and Splunk data flows, with a preference for Perl, Python, and JavaScript.

· Strong understanding of HTTP proxy concepts, including circuit gateways (generic proxies).
