Charter:
This newsgroup's purpose is to function as an international meeting place for all of
those interested in volleyball, where they can share, exchange and/or discuss any kind
of audio-visual material concerning that sport. Every poster is free to choose from any
nowadays available, accepted binary format, e.g.: jpg,mp(e)g,avi[DivX,Xvid,asf],wma,wmv
or other.
The newsgroup will not be moderated. Off-topic materials, off-topic binaries,
advertising (spam), cancel attacks and abusive cross postings will not be tolerated.
Justification:
Currently there are a number of newsgroups available dealing with the sport volleyball,
but those are solely text-oriented groups and none of them is carrying or supporting
audio-visual (binary) materials. This designated group intends to fill that gap.
A few simple group's Rules of Conduct:
Every post should be accompanied by an info-file, telling the other users the following:
-The total size of the post,
-The used codec,
-The competitors,
-The date when the given game was played,
-The name of the tournament (say:National League,World Championship,Olympic Games,etc.),
-Where it was played,
-And very important: The language of the voice-over/commentary!! Where in the end this
group is all about volleyball without any limitations, most people would like to
know before downloading if the presented material is in the tongue they can comprehend.
To be able to have a quick look at the quality of the posting, a sample of it would be
desireable, but it's not obligatory.
An example of how such an info-file should look like follows below. One could copy it,
save it as a txt-file and only replace the variables every time one posts.
