Help Needed - What is the Danish Happy Birthday Song?

I need some help - I plan to surprise a friend by singing the Danish
equivalent of the Happy Birthday song on her birthday, and would be
grateful if someone on this group could help me with :
a. The lyrics of the song
b. How they're to be pronounced (so I don't make a mess by pronouncing
the words as if they were English)
c. Some place where I can get / download the tune.

The first verse (of four) goes like this:
I dag er det Peters fødselsdag

In English this means something like:
Today is Peter's birthday
hurrah, hurrah, hurrah
He will sure get a present
that he has wished for

* = "th" is pronounced like in "the"
Pronounce the words as you would in English. It is far from accurate,
but it should at least be recognizable.

Veterans of soc.culture.nordic will note that this is not necessary.
Forget the Danish teacher! All you *really* need to do is put a hot potato
in your mouth, and pretend to speak Norwegian!

Sure, if you like blisters on your tongue and lips - you don't
even have to pretend anything - and if you you know enough to
pretend to speak Norwegian, you can manage Danish quite easily.

Don't listen. The old potato trick will make you speak Dutch.
Norwegian is (as we all know) a Danish dialect in itself.

I'd replace "gaywe" with "gah-ve". There's no [j] in the Danish word
"gave", which the "y" here would be taken to signify. Perhaps even
replace "cc" with "kk" to avoid any possible confusion.

Once again "eeh" instead of "eh" to make sure it's pronounced right.

It should be mentioned that the due to the metre, the syllable "lay-"
should last for two "syllabic units", thus being pronounced "lah-a-" to
make the metric feet fit.
Am I totally off the mark?

Hmm.... I'm not quite sure, I understand you.
Taking ASCII IPA* into use, I'd transcribe Danish "gave" as /'g&:v@/.
English "gay-we" I would pronounounce as /'geIw@/ whereas I'd read
English "gah-ve" more like /'gA:v@/. Perhaps neither is too good.

Hmm.... remember those old speech synthesis programmes that you could
feed a text and then it would read it aloud in the most horrible of
English pronunciations? I wonder if there's such a programme around for
IPA - it would make it quite a bit easier to test attempts like the
above (especially I'm in doubt whether the final vowel in some of the
above is more like V'', reversed epsilon, than @, schwa).

På en Macintosh-computer kan man som standard få læst tekster op med
forskellige amerikanske stemmer. Vi har prøvet at lave teksten en smule om,
så det kom tættere på at lyde rigtigt, når det blev læst op. Det tætteste vi
kom på var:
Eeh day air de Peters fur-sellsday.
Hoo-rah, hoo-rah, hoo-rah.
Han sic-kert sigh ayn gah-were for.
Some han ha earn-sket sigh eeh ore,
meth digh-lee shou-cou-lay-ay-the, ow kayah til.
