Part-time Admissions Advisor Job Description:

-Participates in implementing CUNY's recruitment plans and programs in support of a strategy to identify, attract,

admit and enroll a highly-qualified and diverse student body.

- Demonstrates and maintains knowledge of CUNY's programs and degree requirements

- Coordinates workshops, intake screenings, interviews and new student orientation

- Counsels prospective applicants on requirements and standards. Provides general program and service

information in person or by telephone, e-mail or letter; follows up as needed

- Coordinates and contribute to student recruiting activities such as group sessions and programs, direct recruiting,

and outreach events at high schools and in the community

- Represents the University Admissions Office to the CUNY Colleges' internal and external communities

- Performs related duties as assigned

The successful candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

- Commitment to customer service excellence, responsiveness and professionalism to work and interact

cooperatively with diverse internal and external stakeholders of various organizational levels

- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with ability to make presentations and lead small

group discussions

- Strong analytical, evaluative, research, critical thinking, and problem solving skills

- Detail oriented and accurate with strong organizational skills to establish plans, manage multiple assignments with

conflicting priorities, and meet deadlines in a time-sensitive office

- Knowledge of practices and technologies used in college admissions, recruiting, and enrollment services

- Multi-lingual (English, French, Spanish, Mandarin, or Russian) preferred

- Must have access to reliable transportation

- Valid driver's license preferred

- Proficiency using computers, standard office, and e-mail/scheduling programs

 


 

 

 

 

 

Violence Intervention Program, Inc. seeks an Outreach Specialist who will ensure the visibility of the VIP by raising awareness about domestic violence and promoting VIP’s culturally proficient services for women who are victims and survivors of domestic violence and their children.

The Outreach Specialist will help the program meet its contractual requirements by developing and maintaining community relationships and outreach opportunities. In addition, schedule workshops; develop public relations through community education, involvement and support. The Outreach Specialist will be responsible for planning, coordinating and promoting outreach activities. Reporting and data collection are also part of the responsibilities.

Essential Functions:

Ø Work with Adelante Mujer, a project of La Voz that builds the leadership skills of post-crisis domestic violence survivors and facilitates their work as promotoras, or community health educators, in the neighborhoods that VIP serves.

Ø Represent VIP at coalitions and in collaborative partnerships with other city and social service organizations and agencies.

Ø Provide workshops on domestic violence and facilitate presentations on VIP’s services in both English and Spanish for community members and other social service providers.

Ø Collaborate with agency communications such as the biannual newsletter.

Ø Participate in legislative advocacy efforts on behalf of VIP.

Ø Collect data and submit required program and funding reports in a timely fashion

Ø Participate in supervision, staff meetings and program meetings

Ø Capacity building in all programs of the agency – each staff member will demonstrate competency with incorporating financial literacy in the performance of their responsibilities.

Ø Perform other tasks as required, including any related supervisory and administrative duties as needed.

 

Requirements:

Ø BA/BS or equivalence in years of experience; Advanced degree preferred.

Ø Fully bilingual (English/Spanish – verbal and written).

Ø Strong public speaking and presentation skills.

Ø Must have the ability to operate office equipment such as computers, copy machine, fax machine, phone systems, etc. with strong internet and software skills; incl. Microsoft Office and client database.

Ø Knowledge of domestic violence from a cultural perspective.

Ø Comfortable working in diverse communities, particularly with Latinos/Latinas, people of color, and low income populations and deliver culturally competent services.

Ø Well organized, outgoing, able to work independently and collaboratively.

Ø Willing and able to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Ø Must be able to exercise good judgment and sensitivity at all times

Ø Must ensure agency, program and client confidentiality at all times.
