ANN: upcoming release

Today I've merged a lot of changes with the master branch.

Unfortunately, there has been quite a mess with the documentation ... I've tried to update the docs to reflect the current behaviour, so this should be ok by now.

Besides, I've added some new testcases which should make it a lot easier to further improve the FileBrowser.

If some of you find the time to test and give feedback, that's very much appreciated.

Sorry again about the delay, but I'm having a really hard time with the new sphinx theme provided by readthedocs. On one hand, I wanna use the standard way to describe functions and classes … on the other hand, the rendering is almost unusable. So I'm trying to figure out a compromise in order to deliver a useful and up–to–date documentation.
