HI Django users,
New to python and django. I'm following the www.djangobook.com , and
chapter 6 talks about the admin interface.

I have done this:

Added this to the settings.py:
INSTALLED_APPS = (
django.contrib.admin,
'django.contrib.auth',
'django.contrib.contenttypes',
'django.contrib.sessions',
'django.contrib.sites',
)
but when I try to run 'python mamage.py syncdb' I get this:

[dk90394@dk90394 smallappst]$ python manage.py syncdb
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "manage.py", line 4, in ?
import settings # Assumed to be in the same directory.
File "/Data/Projects/SmallAppsT/smallappst/settings.py", line 75,
in ?
INSTALLED_APPS = (
NameError: name 'django' is not defined

Can't it find django ?

I can access django from a python prompt:
>>> import django
>>> django.VERSION
(0, 96, None)

Does some one have a suggestion, to what I can do, to make the admin
stuff work ?

it's a very minor error ;)
you forgot to pass it as a string.
try
INSTALLED_APPS = (
'django.contrib.admin',#notice the ' here ;)

'django.contrib.auth',
'django.contrib.contenttypes',
'django.contrib.sessions',
'django.contrib.sites',
)
