Hi JJ,

For archival purposes, I've just deleted your post from the Django Users archive.

Pete and the team at Lincoln Loop are long standing, highly respected members of the Django community, and you've just done them a huge disservice.

The very first page in the "High performance Django" book contains the text:

"""
Sharing your copy to the world on public sites, torrents, etc. is not fair use. Please don’t do it.
"""

<sarcasm>So, *of course* that meant you had full permission to send this PDF to a mailing list of 22000 people. </sarcasm>

Unfortunately, there's nothing I can do to retrieve the book from the 22000 email boxes to which it has already been delivered - the damage has been done.

Please don't do this again.

Yours,
Russ Magee %-)

My fellow Django developers,

First off I just want to say I'm really happy with the new design of our website. I think by modernizing our face we will attract new individuals into programming and our beautiful web framework Django. My sense from the community is that we are very welcoming to those who are new to learning how to build websites, and I think this makes us significantly stronger. I know from my own personal growth that the Django community has been pivotal in helping me attain my dreams as I am nearing the launch of my first website, Athletes United, and so I want to give back by bringing new ideas that I think will help others grow in their journey just like those before me have helped me grow and prosper.

Secondly, I think that by expanding our documentation on Performance and Optimization, we will further strengthen our community and continue to make our community more well rounded. As an individual who had to teach himself how to code and build websites, my feelings stem from the need I see in helping others rapidly and effectively learn how to deploy their hard work. To accomplish this I would like to suggest to you all today the possibility of refactoring and then potentially including the material and guidance within Peter Baumgartner & Lincoln Loop's book High Performance Django. For reference their Kickstarter can be found here:

I have also attached a copy that I have as a backer.

Potentially another document with a wealth of information we could factor in would be Instagram's engineering blog:

I believe we have a great start as seen here:

But I would like to stand up and push for further discussions to be had to bring about, in my mind, a much stronger support for the final step in a django developer's journey. I certainly understand solutions can be on a case by case basis but I think supplementing what we currently provide will only benefit us.

I think by banding together we can lessen the load on each individual and attain an even more comprehensive home on our beautiful djangoproject.com.

Thank you very much for your time today and I hope to hear from anyone who wishes to discuss this further soon.
