Are there any books that teach django for the most recent version out there? I have not been successful at finding a book with up to date info

Not to be mean or cheeky, but Django documentation is best book imo. Read the docs, if they are unclear in anyway, Start reading code. That's how I learnt about sessions and also you'll get to learn all kinds of cool stuff when you start reading Django code, Like property,cached property, Lazy evaluation etc.

(Assuming you don't need the cutting-edge version and, to be honest, I'd think it extremely unlikely that anyone could write a book on a cutting-edge version of *any* software platform ... and I'd be very suspicious of such a book in any case)

There is also a wonderful tutorial on Djangogirls. But it is not quite the last version of Django.
