Recommended reference for design patterns?

While the "Gang of Four" book, as that one is known, is good, it's honestly more of a reference manual than a tutorial. The core of that book is a catalog of design patterns, but there isn't much guidance given as to when or where a particular pattern would be appropriate. For learning design patterns, I'd say a much better resource is Head First Design Patterns.
