Hey guys,

I spent a few hours today trying out this app for a site I'm working
on. I wrote up a little summary of what issues I experienced and how
I solved them at http://jayngo.blogspot.com/2011/04/using-django-paypal.html.
Hopefully it helps someone.

Jay

Thanks for the writeup. I'm hoping to get Django-Paypal setup someday,
and it's nice to see how the process might go. :)

Two comments (or one comment, one question).

First, you mentioned using the johnboxall version - however, according
to this post http://groups.google.com/group/django-paypal/browse_thread/thread/4448253020c9f469
, that version is not supported, and the latest is from dcramer. Check
the 'about this group' link on the right for a link to it, if you
wanted the latest version.

Second, do you have a rough idea how long it took to get fully
working? Including any SSL certificate installation, if you did that?
Thanks.

I know I'm not the original author but I just got it working yesterday and used his guide as a reference (it was very helpful and addressed some of the specific problems I encountered) so I thought I would share my experience.  I think you could easily get it working in a day if not less.  SSL certificates aren't very difficult to install but sometimes it can take a little time to get it from the issuing authority.  You can also install a self-signed certificate for testing which is what I did.  I am not completely convinced that you need ssl because I was able to get paypal post to the non-ssl version of my ipn url (you can look at previous ipn messages on paypal website and see where they posted it).

I agree that the dcramer version is the better version to use and the documentation is also improved.  I think that if you carefully follow all of the steps in both the docs and Jays guide everything should go smoothly.

Regards,

Josh
