Hi,
Has anyone written a mobile app (e.g. iOS or Android) that integrates with Oscar/Django? Was it straightforward to get similar functionality
on the site (e.g. shopping cart, product listings, etc...) as on the phone? Also, does anyone know about Mobicart integration with Oscar?

Thanks,
Praveen

Hi Praveen,

templates of Oscar 0.6 will be more responsive, so should display
better. The easiest route would be an app that just wraps the mobile site.

If you want a more native integration, you'll need an API. We've looked
into it before:
https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups=#!searchin/django-oscar/api/django-oscar/zVKHBurdwJs/_mNGsyfemlwJ

But it's not been high on our priority list.
Depending on what you need, both Tastypie and DRF should allow you to
quickly get a basic API of the ground, but more complex scenarios like
the checkout process have not been explored. There's also branches
floating about where David had a stab at both DRF and Tastypie.
As far as I'm aware, nobody has explored this further than that.

Hope that helps,

Maik

Thanks Maik - I'll look into the hybrid app approach, that's kind of what I was thinking.

Audioapp.pl has its own Android (and soon iOS) applications - as it sells audiobooks those apps are players plus integrated stores (but not everything). The store integration is done via Tastypie API.

If you don't need specific mobile features a responsive website will be much better choice (especially for iOS payments restrictions)

AFAIK iOS doesn't accept complete mobileview apps into their store only Android does.
