Hey guys

I created a static block to be shown in the home-page. But I did not understand the concept of Files-Tab in Static Blocks. Also the purpose of checking Display Files in Data-Tab

Sorry, I did not find much help in the docs and <django-lfs google-group> either. How it can be used? or any good use cases will be very helpful.

BTW, I was expecting a Slideshow/slider Effect when the Display files is checked in.
Can someone throw in more light here. Thanks in advance.

LFS version - 0.7.2

Pajju,

This feature is a place you can set some default text and include some images as well. After the static blocks are created you can choose them on categories and products. It is clearly not doing a slide show with the files tab. I just uploaded an image and also was unable to pick it from the image add dialogue in the static block editor. The new image does not appear as a choice, only product images show up for selection.

Kai,

Is there a more detailed explanation of the intended behavior of this feature? I also just realized that there is no way to globally add static blocks to products and categories. I added the reference during my product import so I didn't notice till now.

This is not a critical issue for me, just curious about where it is now and where it may go.

Richard

+1, this is another unexpected behavior I also observed.

I'm waiting for his answer as well.

Exactly, there is no slideshow with static blocks by default. You can
of course adapt the template to provide this by yourself. FWIW, if
somebody needs a slide show, one can look into https://bitbucket.org/pigletto/lfs-carousel.
It works quite well for me.

The rest is intended behavior. At the moment there are just files (not
images). Files are supposed to be provided to download if the "display
files" check box is checked. This seems not to be the case. This is a
bug. I'm going to fix this.

ATM, you can just apply static blocks from products and categories. I
see the point, that adding products and categories to static blocks
(the other way around) could be helpful, too. Nice task for an
intermediate developer. Maybe I can bring it on the table while we
sprinting at the EuroPython in Florence.
