What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Run jython manage.py compilemessages
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
expected output:
processing file django.po in ...\locale\es\LC_MESSAGES
actual output:
processing file django.po in ..\locale\es\LC_MESSAGES
msgfmt: error while opening "$djangocompilepo" for reading: No such file or
directory
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
django-jython 1.1.1, on Windows
Please provide any additional information below.
Running compilemessages using Python works.

Looking into this issue with release 1.2.0b1. I can see that you are
supposed to use django-admin.py rather than manage.py for creating and
compiling messages. Please try to use as explained within the django
docs: http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/topics/i18n/localization/
I will go through the steps to see if this works with doj 1.2.0b1.
