Great idea setting up this mailing list! I run the opengov.se website
which is an initative to highlight public datasets (open or not) in
Sweden. The application is built on Django and the catalog is an open
source project available here:
http://code.google.com/p/opengov-catalog/
The idea is to make it easy for people to set up their own data catalo
website to push their government officials to increase public data
online.
A more recent project, also based on Django, is Idéum:
http://code.google.com/p/opengov-ideum/
This is in its infancy and anyone who wants to contribute is of course
welcome. The goal of Idéum is to enable citizens to improve their
community by creating and sharing ideas. With ideas for improvement
being shared and discussed government can become a better decision
maker by tapping into the expertise of citizens. It could also form
the base for a FixMyStreet application where people can report
problems in their community.
