Over at The Onion, we're working on a major new project in Django.
(By "major", well, let's just say that it doesn't end in
"theonion.com" or "avclub.com".) We absolutely *love* Django to
pieces ... especially me, considering that Django's the reason I was
hired. ^_^ Just like everyone, though, we have a list of stuff we'd
like to improve; at the top of that list is model inheritance.

So, we'd like to put our swag, and our keyboards, where our collective
mouth is. (Or something like that.)

We're planning on attending PyCon this year; during the sprints, we'd
love to get a Django (sub-)sprint going on with a focus on model
inheritance. We're looking to bring as much Onion swag as we can to
the Djangonauts — shirts and copies of Our Dumb World, at the very
least. If model inheritance is still too much of a long shot by that
point (e.g., if queryset-refactor is still in progress), we'll be
happy to help work on the prerequisites instead. We'd like to blend
nicely with the Django sprint-proper; whatever we can do towards that
end, we're all ears. If anyone has any suggestions for fun Onion-type
stuff we can do — fire away!

My boss is also interested in doing a lightning talk about our
experiences using Django; if he does, we'll likely announce the new
site that way (as if you didn't have enough reasons to attend PyCon,
right?).

I plan to attend, and I may be able to stay for the sprints this year.
Model inheritance is much on my wants list as well.

I'll be there, and I just noticed that I have a good use case for
model inheritance so I'll try to help out with this.
