Basically I think the wiki could use someone to work on it as something
akin to an editor. Jacob put it well when I mentioned this to him
yesterday, that the wiki could use a "gardener". Someone to keep the
various branch and status pages up to date with the dev list, keep an
eye out for spam, and work on generally cleaning things up.
Some reasons I think this would be a good idea:
1. For the person who doesn't follow the dev list, finding out the
status of major branches is hard - having someone other than the
developer keep the status updated benefits everybody.
2. Cleaning up the wiki (especially the front page and the development
related pages) would help new people to more easily become contributors.
3. Having a designated person to pester developers about the status of
branches wouldn't hurt.
This person wouldn't be writing content necessarily, but would work on
keeping things neat.
So what does everyone think? Is this a worthwhile idea?
Since I'm throwing out the idea, I'm willing to do this. Is any one else
interested?

Sounds good, I'm happy to 'leaf' it to you.
(Sorry, couldn't resist).

This would be fantastic. It gets a big +1 from me.

Is it easy to give out permission to delete attachments (often the
spam consists of attaching some html doc. full of links to a wikipage)
etc.

So someone out there may be asking, "What happened with this?"
Answer: I have dropped off the face of the planet.
Status: I'm not coming back anytime soon.
I'm really bummed by this, I really was looking forward to helping out.
Life reared its ugly head and I'm not in a position to trim the wiki and
edit pages. I thought I should let people know.
It would really keen if someone else picked this up, I still think the
Django wiki could benefit from a light hand keeping things orderly.
In the spirit of the day (what there is left of it): "Avast ye sea dogs,
will one of ye take the plung to help the wiki?" :)

Arrr, matey ... I'd be willin' to take up yer flag!
Err, translation ... I'd be willing to do it. I've already found
myself cleaning up stuff here and there simply because I'm a
grammar/usage/organization nazi. I even started work on a TextMate
bundle for Trac Wikis at one point. ^_^ I'd certainly like to simply
"be bold" as per Wikipedia and be a bit more aggressive with improving
the wiki, but of course the Django wiki isn't Wikipedia — I don't want
to step on anyone's toes!
No, no -- please do! We need someone who'll take control. Besides, if
you screw up, I know where you live...
:)

Arr, that be true. I'll strive to see that ye and yers haven't th'
ambition to sink mah ship and run meh through!
(Apologies for getting Sep. 19th out of my system a little late.) ;-)
