hey yall

so, i wrote a lil report back on the meetup. originally i was hoping we could put together something from submissions of a bunch of people, but the original call-out for those submissions turned up no results. in wanting there to be something written about the meetup, perhaps simply to document its happening to a larger audience, i wrote some of my thoughts around it. i spend most of the time talking about where the meetup came from and where myself and others hope to see it go.
anyway, here's a direct link
http://currentsagainstus.files.wordpress.com/2013/01/muwu.pdf

it's also on the diysailboatmeetup blogspot via a txt version for those who don't want to read a pdf
http://diysailboatmeetup.blogspot.com/p/report-back.html

the file is hosted on the page of an ongoing project that came out of the meetup that we encourage everyone to enjoy and potentially contribute to. the project, currents against us, aims to document what adventures and projects we find ourselves in with hopes that it will generate more sub-culture around our efforts and therefore more community. there are quite a few new writings on the page, zines, interviews, and links. please check it out.

Nice one Steve! Really enjoyed the piece, despite now having been a the meet up. Because of that it was great to fill in some of the details! Thanks. I alwys look forward to hearing peoples stories and news from the meet up. We are currently in the South West of the UK (Cornwall) living on our boat and looking west occasionally! Theree is a striong community of liveaboards in this aprt of the world many worki g thier boats under sail alone.

BTW we are in our early fifities know and still holding onto the DIY punk ethic of the 70's!! We have however had some time to gather resources to make this possible!

peace
