Has anybody invented a way of varying or adjusting the width of keys on a keyboard so that players with vary different hand and finger sizes can play the same instrument with only a few seconds of adjustment?

Thank you for your help.

Hmmm. One could make the keys a bit narrower, say 2-3 mm and vary the spacing between keys up to say a 6 mm gap. The electronics underneath would have to be flexible in some way.
Why?

With narrow keys, a mechanical mechanism could separate the keys by a variable amount.  This can be done.  Once a musician sets the width, it might stay there for years.  It need not be designed for very frequent or high-speed use.
