Plants iView was initiated by the Plant Biology Association of Graduate Students (PBAGS) at UIUC who recognized the challenges of interacting with the surrounding community to promote and communicate plant science to a general audience. Communication of science is a key element for our development as teacher-scholars, but these skills are often overlooked within formal graduate training programs. The Plants iView project closely aligns with the goals of the ASPB Education Foundation and meets the criteria outlined in the proposal call by: (1) creating an interactive learning environment for middle school students that will allow graduate students to communicate higher level concepts about plant science through small group leadership, (2) developing lesson plans and multimedia instructional supplements for small group activities in collaboration with middle school science teachers, and (3) creating a project webpage/blog for broader dissemination of inquiry-based lesson plans and materials.
Yes. Still need help. When I access ABC iview via Google tv remote, many programs have a lock icon and can't be accessed. If I go to ABC iview via my phone or tablet, they're not locked.
In the Google tv app, my tv is shown as linked. ABC iview is a free streaming service, you just have to register an account, which I have.
Doesn't seem to be any reason why I can't access these programs thru Google tv
Sorry for the late response. To clarify, are you watching the ABC iview programs on YouTube TV in the Chromecast with Google TV? If yes, I'm afraid you need to subscribe or purchased the programs that are locked.
ABC iview has been a game-changer in meeting audience expectations for quality on-demand television, enabling viewers to access programs anywhere at any time. ABC iview offers immediate, on-demand viewing of engaging and innovative content from Australia and overseas, free to all Australians, highlighted by binge television viewing, exclusive digital-only programs, agenda-setting news and current affairs, and live streaming of ABC channels.
ABC iview is a video on demand and catch-up TV service run by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Currently iview video content can only be viewed by users in Australia.[1] As of 2016, ABC iview attracts around 50 million plays monthly and accounts for around half of the total time streamed by Australian TV video services.[2]
After running for several months in beta form under the name "ABC Playback", the service became available as a Flash website in July 2008.[1] This was the next step after the video podcasting of ABC TV programs since July 2006.
An iOS app for iPads was launched in December 2010, followed by a mobile version for iPhone in June 2012. An iview Android app supporting phones and tablets on Android 4.0.3 and above was released on 18 December 2013.[3]
ABC iview provides on-demand access to almost all the TV programs that are broadcast on the ABC's linear broadcast channels (ABC TV, ABC TV Plus, ABC Me, ABC Kids, ABC News), as well as simulcast live streams of those channels and original content and programs acquired exclusively for ABC iview.
In late 2008 the iview website video player was updated to allow for unmetering (zero-rating) by several Australian ISPs through network peering arrangements. The ISPs included Internode,[16] iPrimus,[17] Westnet, Apex Internet and Adam Internet. iiNet was able to offer iview unmetered without the peering upgrade. In addition, AARNet, Cinenet, and Comcen since offer unmetered access to iview.[18] ABC TV live streams and content not streamed using Adobe Flash (i.e. through the iPad and Internet connected TVs) is currently not unmetered, however this may change in the future.[19]
