Cheesemakers:

I am happy to announce that there will finally be another DIY
Cheesemakers meeting on Wednesday, April 27th, 2011 at Foster and
Dobbs Authentic Foods. Debbie Driscoll of Debbie's Delicious Cheese
(www.debbiesdeliciouscheese.com) will be giving a talk on her trip to
Italy last Fall where she interned with two cheesemakers.

Meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. and it is good to arrive early to grab
seats. There is a suggested donation of $5 to the Leukemia and
Lymphoma Society. More details are available available at Foster and
Dobbs event calendar at http://fosteranddobbs.com/events/. Please
support Foster and Dobbs to thank them for hosting DIY Cheesemaker
meetings.

Hope to see you there!

I have discontinued sending out monthly updates on cheesemaking
classes in the Portland area. After my last few updates a few people
unsubscribed from the list. This made me think people may not want
class listings filling up their mailboxes. Class listings are
available from the websites of the various locations that host
cheesemaking classes. Below is a list of class locations of which I am
currently aware. If I missed any please let me know, or feel free to
post the notice to the list yourself (any member can post to this
list!).

I am interested in creating a list of local farms that sell
pasteurized and raw milk to home cheesemakers. I also think it would
be great if we could somehow coordinate carpools to pick up milk and
bring it into town to save on time and gas. I realize this would mean
two or more people would have to have the urge to make cheese at
approximately the same time for this to work, so perhaps cheesemakers
would just need to coordinate between themselves to organize carpools.

Below is a list of farms near Portland selling raw milk according to
realmilk.com (an excellent resource for finding such farms, scroll
down to the Oregon section at http://realmilk.com/where4.html#or).  If
anyone knows of others, please let me know and I will update the list.
