Hi Everyone,

If you've been part of DIYBio Mcr could you tell us how it's been useful to you? We need as many of you as possible to do this very quick survey so we can let our funders know about why we're needed. Thanks! http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/McrDIYBio

This is the final part of our initial Wellcome funding, but we've got lots more planned for the next few months – several more events, including a session on "genetic modification for beginners" on the 30th of August, of which there's more details here: http://hello-ecoli.eventbrite.com and some excellent messy sessions at the Manchester Science Festival in October, including bacterial painting and a chance to build your own DIY USB Webcam Microscope if you missed the meetup last month. There's more info on this, and everything else happening at the Manchester Science Festival here: http://www.manchestersciencefestival.com.

On the subject of Webcam Microscopes, here's an ace video from "Brazilian Bloodsuckers…" of a magnified Sandfly (which looks like an out-take from a SciFi movie), taken by DIYbio newcomer Phil Wolstenholme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oTdN-vmzyI.

Finally, we're super excited about our forthcoming biology lab at the new sister space two doors down from the MadLab (44 Edge Street) which we're sharing with the newly formed HacMan spin-off, Hackspace Manchester. There'll be more announcements about this shortly so keep an eye on the list.

See you soon!

Asa
