Chicago DIYBio?

I saw the previous attempt of making hacker space in Chicago, such a sad story. 

Anyway, it seems strange that such a big metro area with several good Uni doesn't have biohacker space. I saw some hacker space (3D printing and even electron microscope) but nothing bio. Anyone from the area?

You're missing out on the real info! Not sure where the best hackerspace/biohackerspace map is, but there's one on diybio.org and one on diyhpl.us

I saw both of them. Chicago DIYbio last post was in 2011. I tried to find the person who wrote last topic hoping to email him directly. Turned out that he committed suicide. 

Pumpingstation One is the one with electron microscope (SEM is cool equip I admit) and machining equip that I mentioned but nothing bio. I found their board through your link and that discussion is also depressing (lots of issues between people). Anyway, it seems that I will move faster by myself. Thanks for trying to help.

I haven't been in Chicago for about 1.5 years but I tried very much to start a Biohackerspace there from like 2011-2012 and there just is not much interest. I contacted both PS1 and SSH and neither were really interested.
I even tried to donate a shit ton of equipment that no one would take. I ended up putting it in the garbage because I didn't want to pay for storage anymore.

I found that Chicago is not the ideal environment for some reason.

 I understand this thread is old, but it's still one of the things that comes up if you google DIYBio Chicago. We're setting up a group for the creation of a public biolab. We're called ChiTownBio, and we're on twitter, meetup, and Facebook, soon to have a website. We're in the process of setting up our non-profit status and then we'll move on to getting a physical space. If you're interested, please reach out to us.
