Hey

I am doing a large synthesis order soon from gen9. However, they insist upon synthesis of at least 25kbs, and I unfortunately only need 20kbps synthesized. If anyone wants to get some genes for cheap, contact me. It is 20 cents a base pair ( .5 to 3kbp) and as a little incentive I will also include a (native) pfu polymerase gene for expression in E coli :)

Pretty much I will just add your DNA onto the order and then once I get it you give me the money so I can cover my costs, and then I'll ship it to you.

Alternatively, tell me some cool stuff to synthesize and if I think it would be worth adding it I'll pay for it to be synthesized...

Wow, huge order! ~5000, dollars or euro?
When does the order go in, this week or next month or what? :)

Dollar :) I am working with a couple other people so the costs gets spread among us

The order goes pretty much as soon as I get the other DNA I need, so hopefully within a week or 2. Yesterday the company informed me that I'd have to pay with a PO (that will take some time) and that they didn't offer the 10 cent 1kbp for smaller orders, but other then that I have all the other (20kb) DNA ready to send to them, been working it out with them for about 1-2 weeks since they insisted upon an affiliated research organization, different prices than on their website, ect

A few cool little things I am synthesizing is the Qbeta polymerase (experimenting on replicating type 2 introns, like targetrons http://www.targetrons.com/ ), pfu polymerase (because taq sucks) and the hok/sok/mok toxin antitoxin system, for plasmid stability

Sounds like negotiating tactics. A good counter tactic can be a delay while you "talk to your
partners, or 'boss' about the deal", then ask for lower price.
