Subject: [diybio-boston] My Visit to Sprout
To: diybio-boston <
diybio...@googlegroups.com>
Hi Guys,
I visited Sprout about a week ago on the recommendation of people here
and I had lots of fun so I wanted to do a brief write up for lurkers
like me who like field reports.
So it's in a renovated two floor garage in a residential neighborhood
nearby the Davis Sq. station. It's a really cool hacker-space where
they've got a machine shop and a library on the first floor and a
electronics workbenches, whiteboard and wiring/ardiuano shelf,
computer (ubuntu linux), kitchen, fridge (with expiring food), trumbon
and last but least a PCR machine or a sequencing machine?Couldn't be
sure because no one in diybio was around to explain it to me, :-(
I went there on Thursday project-night; there were people there who
gathered around to work on a circuit-breaking project with a really
retro 80's soundboard that were hooked up to various other eletronic
circuit boards in various sizes/shapes that made occasional blaring
sounds. There was a nice girl and guy who took me on a tour of the
whole place and then let me listened in on a software project that
they were sketching out on the whiteboard, in which they were working
on a Bayesian anti-spam plugin for Wiki's to filter out spam.
In short, it was a blast and I wish to meet some diybio people next
time I visit,
Best,
Paul Cao
