NYSM agar media?

What exactly is NYSM media? I just noticed that Boreal sells it, and
lists it as live. A google search is less than helpful...

NYSM = Nutrient Yeast Extract Salt Medium

According to this article [1], it is a conventional lab growth medium.
They used it to culture bacteria.

You should have tried to google NYSM medium. Gives better results.

Taken from that reference here's your recipe:

To 1L deoinised water, add:
5g Peptone
5g Glucose
3g Beef Extract (oxo-style soup cubes? Watch for added salt/oil content)
0.5g Yeast Extract
Some unspecified amounts of MgCl2, CaCl2, MnCl2.

The salts were referenced poorly. The paper said to add "10ml" of them, not mentioning anything about concentration/molarity of any of the salts.

Via the beer brewing discussion in other thread, the salts cathal mentioned are often available at homebrew stores at good prices.
