Hey guys! I was thinking about how it could be possible to use BACs to create a system that is module and has a setup like this

BAC 1) DNA replication equipment
BAC 2) Translation equipment
BAC 3) Biosynthesis stuff
BAC 4) Other

Each of the BACS could be isolated and all have a 2 micron circle, meaning that they can replicate in Yeast for amplification. Each BAC would have a small portion of space that M13 primers could be used for verfication sequencing. Since the BACs could be up to 1/4 the size of a normal chromosome, plus being minimal, they could be about 300,000bps big allowing for direct modification of any gene inside. In addition, they could be combined with other BACs to create complex systems. Any thoughts?

I'm sure there's tons of literature on BAC libraries
