For quite a while I have been sucked into DIY transformer and choke
winding. So far, a year ago I have wound a pair of chokes that are
pretty useless as I have oversized the air gap, and the bobbin... had I
known more about what it takes to wind these irons before...
So, I started a quest to dig out information. Transformer winding is a
very sophisticated lore. It takes a lot of design and compromises to be
made, and balanced, then a lot of patience to wind, and the thing that
gets you to Carnegie Hall: practice, practice, practice.........
:)
Probably many of us will not start winding miles of wire, but some of
the material is helpful when selecting a new OPT for your new DIY amp.
I hope the pdf will be of help to everyone! I tried posting it to the
forum, but its oversize (3megs), and did not go through. If anyone is
interested, I'll send it in email.
