Here's another idea - how about stop global warming, or something along those lines.

I was talking about global warming with my sons today, and was thinking about getting a book about it from the library, but then thought they will learn better from doing.

Learning from doing - immediately diy.org came into my mind.

There are lots of challenges that might help your sons out in exploring this. "Solar Engineer" would work very well along those lines. "Make a Green Design" under Industrial Engineer comes to mind. I am sure there are others. Maybe Innovator? Forrester? (Plant a Tree/Plant a Forest)

A Conservationist Badge would be a nice open-ended one top consider adding though. It could be related to CO2 emission reduction but also things like recycling, litter pick-up, greenspace improvement projects, etc.
