Fellow players,
With the voting deadline having just passed, three people who submitted definitions have not yet voted - nor has another recent regular who didn't submit one in this round. Perhaps the U.S. Memorial Day long weekend distracted them. I'm going to extend the deadline by four hours (to 5 pm EDT, other times in other places).
To refresh your memory, here are the definitions of OOSIK, one of which is correct:
1. egg-shaped.
2. blue, glacial ice.
3. [Icel.] a small boat.
4. the Big Dipper constellation.
5. [Finland] a limited partnership.
6. the buzzing, swirling death of a fly.
7. [Inuit] the baculum of a walrus, seal, sea lion or polar bear.
8. [Inuit] granular snow formed by alternate thawing and freezing.
9. a stone used in Finland to mark the boundary between properties.
10. a tent of animal skins, a traditional type of Inuit summer dwelling.
11. [Paleolithic] a spear throwing implement made of the thigh bone of a deer.
12. [Inuit] the stage in the annual ice melt when polar bears can begin hunting seals.
13. among Melanesian peoples, a woman's father in law, sometimes used to refer to any elderly relative.
14. [Old Norse] a friend with whom one shares a bond closer than family, occasionally used more casually to mean a brother-in-arms
15. a clown-like cartoon character who mocks Turkish officials, appearing in publications of the Fethullah Gülen opposition movement in exile.
If you're one of those three (or four), please vote (or, if applicable, let me know privately that you're DQ).
If you're not, you'll have to wait a few more hours for the results. If that's the worst thing that happens to you today, consider yourself fortunate.
