No, it was a deliberate comment, not a Dixon. I'm hardly going to explicitly identify a NAD for the dealer who expressed the view that it was a trite and unnecessary practice.

If you are going to follow my proposal, then it might be a good idea to follow the whole of my proposal. It is clear that several commenters on that thread did not read it to the end. This is the bit you and some others appear to have missed:

So, as an alternative to the health-and-safety warning, I am proposing that players writing a NAD should copy Judy and the dealer with a suitable superscription.

I’m not suggesting that you have to do this. If you are satisfied with the status quo, you can carry on as before. It’s just an alternative way of achieving the original goal, that you can choose to adopt, or not.

You are right when you say I think that the dealer should not need a warning. But Judy does, and I said so clearly. Please don’t suggest that you are only doing what I proposed, and so the outcome is to be laid at my door.

Oh, that dealer was you, Steve, was it? That figures. 

I did look in the archived posts to find when, and by whom, NAD flagging was initiated, but I drew a blank. Such discussions were regularly moved to a separate thread, and so were not preserved. In fact, I think Russ also redacted NAD messages from the game post archive as not worth preserving, because the earliest mention of a NAD in the archive is Round 1172, which was after Russ stopped keeping the posts, and Scott Crom took over.

So all I have to go on is the brief summary of the discussion that I kept at the time. I disagreed with it, and my dismissive summary reflects that. I also suspect I was too new a player to voice my objection in the forum, because I am pretty sure I didn’t. Any idea of when, or what word it was?  I reckon it was in the 200s, but that is just a guess.

Perhaps in the future I'll just leave it to the dealer to make the NAD determination. Dodi Schultz (may her memory be a blessing) would be disappointed, but perhaps crowning has become outdated.

That was me. I did it TWICE in the same round.

In my defense, it was during my first four or five rounds.

Then, I dealt the most screwed round before, or since, on my very first deal (Round 28 I believe.) 

And that is how Howard Bennett came to rename the game as Dixonary. Nice honor, no?

My apologies, Paul. You are quite right; I did not read to the end of the thread or follow your suggestion. My comment to Judy comes off as a dig at you, which was not what I intended. Although I don't have strong feelings one way or the other, I am more sympathetic to the view that one should not have to positively identify a NAD every time.

It's a poor joke that has to be explained. If my NAD wasn't obvious as such, I probably should not have posted it.
