Has anyone ever calculated player odds of getting it right when we pile up on 1 or 2 definitions? In other words, how likely is it that we are choosing the correct definition vs wrong ones. The variable is whether the initial vote cast was by John or by one of the rest of us. Our odds are always really good when we follow John's choices, but how about with the rest of us?

We don’t keep stats at that level of detail.  It would take quite a bit of effort to confirm or deny that hypothesis.

There is a project in progress produce player ratings on a regular basis. You could simply follow the votes of the highest-rated player.

The details aren't finalized yet, because Dan is the main man behind the project, and he has had other priorities lately. You are welcome to join the Google group dixonary-ratings and participate. If you just want to see how far along the project is, and what the rating table might look like, it’s on the group website dixonary.net. The ratings you will see there are experimental, but you will at least get the flavour. In that table, up to round 3658, the highest-rated current player is, in fact, John, surprise, surprise. The all-time highest-rated player is Roberta Muths, who left the game a little under ten years ago.
