The Word in this round is SHWMAE. Your task is to eliminate the dozen fake definitions in the list below, and home in on the one that I took from a respectable English dictionary; only one of my three usual sources lists the word. You have two bashes at guessing correctly between now and Friday 15 May at 16h00 CEST, which is 48 hours from time of posting, and ⏱️ hours from when you read this. Early closing will apply as usual.

1

N. Eng. Clean or tidy.

2

Snow-shoes.

3

A mechanical defect in a timepiece [perhaps a corruption of the High German schwarm ‘swarm’ and the Middle French marre ‘hoe’, though more likely an 18th-century “nonsense” coinage used among London clockmakers]

4

A saddle-shaped depression in the ridgeline of a mountain range.

5

A command to leave (addressed esp. to a dog).

6

Welsh English. Used as a greeting; ‘hello’, ‘hi.’

7

Welsh English. A sense of homeliness and cosy contentment.

8

Welsh English. A sheepfold.

9

A quick stovetop reduction made from spiced yogurt and browned onions, traditionally used to glaze vegetables before roasting.

10

A consonantal alphabet; e.g., Hebrew or Arabic.

11

A vowel sign in Hebrew indicating either a phoneme or the absence of a vowel.

12

To stir lightly in a breeze.

13

A path of stepping stones leading across shallow water.

I don't believe any of these, least of all mine! So I'll reward the authors of the following with my votes:

Almost all seem plausible, for such a weird word, as shown by the variety of votes.
I'll go with 8 and 11.
