When the first nine players to vote guessed the real def, I thought I was heading for some sort of record.  It ended up as a D11, and it's easier to list the players whod didn't vote for number 9, the uncertain meaning  of "difficult, troublesome; devilish", than those who did.  They were Nancy Shepherdson ad Eric Boxer.  .Efrem Mallach takes the next deal with four votes for his unruly ram plus a correct guess, while Dan Widdis is the lucky runner-up.  I shall know what sort of word to avoid in the future - I hope!

Congrats, Tim! You tied with me with a D11! It's one of the highest dealer scores ever. Maybe even THE highest. Maybe Mike can tell us.

D11 is the highest dealer score I have on record, but this is the 2nd time for Tim; he also scored D11 in round 2649. So you have some catching up to do!

Mike,

There was a D12 in Round 2582 (‘fagottist’), but that dictionary definition (from Phrontistery) was combined with efforts from Hugo Kornelis and from you, and maybe the fact of it being a combination makes a difference in the record-keeping.

Even so, this D11 is a record in one sense. When the real definition collects 11 votes from 20 voting players, that shows a lesser degree of attractiveness than when it collects 11 votes from 14 voting players. In that sense, Tim's D11 beats out Nancy’s D11, and the other three D11 scores, and the only D12, because it attracted nearly 85% of the available votes, which is way ahead of the roughly two-thirds that the other high-scorers achieved.

These numbers relate only to the post-CompuServe era, because that is as far back as my score records go.
